eng: Thermochemical plumes with intermediate thermal power (1.6•1010 W<N<2.6•1010 W) are diamondiferous ones. For such a plume, the hydrodynamic melt flow structure in the interfacing zone of plume conduit and eruption conduit is determined by laboratory modeling. Using the photographs of the flow we have measured the velocity profiles in this area. The stagnant area is detected in the main cylindrical channel (‘plume conduit’). The experimental modeling and theoretical analysis imply that the superlithostatic pressure should be taken into account in studies of the melt eruption. The superlithostatic pressure is the sum of the frictional pressure drop and increasing dynamic pressure in the eruption conduit. The dependence of the melt flow velocity in it on parameters of both the eruption and the plume conduits has been found and a correlation has been derived.
